Happy new school year

February 8, 2011
Wow! I just realized that it has been quite some time since I've been here! There has been such a lot happening writing wise - sent off a query for The Colours of Sunset. HM&B asked me for the ms and it came back with suggestions, and also a request for Jack Wolfe and Melody Charm. All good. Very excited.

And the next day we bought a house...

And then...

we had to clean our current house up, paint, garden, see real estate agents, photographs, lisinting, open for inspections etc, etc. School year ending, kids on holidays... You get the idea.

And on the track of school holidays, I do enjoy the kids home. I do. Don't get me wrong. I don't have to leave for school and worry about picks up and play dates and activities after school, but let me say that seven weeks of doing kids things every day, playing badminton, monopoly, trampolining dolls, role playing and seeing every kids movie out, listening to non stop television and wii games, screaming, mum he punched me, mum, I'm hungry, mum I want... my mind, not to mention my pelvic floor muscles were not coping. After all, there is only so much a mum can do.

Now school is back - day three - and I have edited half of Jack Wolfe and Melody Charm - more than which it took me more than seven weeks with the kids to achieve. I have my mind back for six hours, not to mention my sanity. Now I can write, edit and get somewhere.

BTW - have sent off Broome to the 5DI contest with RWA. Fingers crossed.

I'm going to add some little piccies of the Chinese mines from Jamieson which features in the story of Jack Wolfe and Melody Charm right now, but I'm not going to tell you where they are up there. All I can say that, if you're not a local, you won't know where to look. Don;t get lost in the bush. They are in fact, very dangerous, so I need to keep it a secret, but enjoy the pics!

How to Charm a Wolfe

July 17, 2010
Whoo hoo. I have just finished Melody Charm and Jack Wolfe: How to Charm a Wolf and what an exhilarating ride it was. I went from the Brisbane Ranges to skydiving in the middle of the Victoria High Country. I go there all the time, but I've never been sky diving there and now I feel like I have.

I have put up the first chapter of the book, (which will probably change a little, but I wanted to get something online) which I hope anyone who reads it will enjoy it. I have fallen in love with my ch...

It's been a while

June 30, 2010
Yes, dear blog, it has been a while since I shared some news with you and sent my thoughts out into the nether-regions of cyberspace, where ever, and how futile, that may be. I'm entering the age of the determined now. I've written a few novels, am happy with the plot lines, and now has come the time to send them off and impress someone.

The thing is, I like my stories, I find them interesting, and I hope someone else out there likes them also. As original as I think I am, I also hope that I ...

Oh my God

May 12, 2010
Wold you believe it? HM&B have asked for the full ms of Broome:The Colors of Sunset. Wow! I have to pinch myself every time I tell someone - and I have been telling the world.

I have to say when I received the letter in the post, I looked at the front of the envelope and thought - let's see what they have to say and braced myself for the rejection I was certain it was. After reading the letter, I was on cloud 9 for the next week after that.

So now, after days of proof reading (big thank you to ...

Charmaine's Maiden Voyage take 2

April 22, 2010
Well, now I have opened a blog, I guess I've got to fill it. It's a good way to get the mind into the writing think-set, so here I am. I've been reading up on blogs (Blogging for Dummies) and seen a lot of them, so I thought I'd give it a go. Now to fill it with inspirational thoughts.... yup. Come on brain.

Oh - I did reply to a fellow blogger today on the leaderfreepress site about mums trying to have it all. She's been wondering and trying, so have I over the past few years and I have come ...

Charmaine's Maiden Voyage

April 20, 2010
Well, here I am, at the very start of an exciting project that could lead far and wide, or nowhere at all. I'm opting for the far and wide option. Much better. I'm going to email my friends now and see what they think of the web site. Maybe some will like, or not, or maybe some will have a big laugh - its all better then no reaction at all.

Blog me back if there are any comments out there. Much appreciated.

cheers, Charmaine
